Natural Parenting
Parenting is one of life’s most difficult tasks. It can be the greatest joy of your life as well as be the most difficult task. There are many parenting styles available to choose from and each type is great for different types of parents and children. There are many ideas about how to raise children, though there are no strict rules to follow. Some parents start with a basic outline and go from there while some have all their parenting moves prepared. There are three main types of parenting styles; Authoritarian, Permissive and Authoritative. Each style differs greatly and not all styles will work for everyone. Regardless of your style of parenting you can incorporate natural parenting to make it your own unique style.
Authoritarian parents tend to be strict and always in control of their children from birth to adulthood. They usually have many rules to keep expectations clear and organized. Often times this style is looked at as harmful to children because of its strict standards and rules. Children who endure this style of parenting often have little control over their own lives because they must adhere strictly to the desires of their parents. However, these children tend to become well rounded, and successful in their future lives. Natural parenting should be incorporated into this style of parenting to ensure the best results. Parents who set strict guidelines should do so along natural boundaries. They should express their concerns to their child and explain why such rules are set. Also to form the best relationship they should never break the natural bond between themselves and their children. Expressing unwavering love for your child is extremely important when you have chosen this style.
The exact opposite is permissive parenting. This usually includes few or no rules for their child. They do not perform strict routines or life styles. While children parented this way often seem unruly, they usually end up being well adjusted to many situations. This style allows the child to figure out their own desires and goals in life and learn their own mistakes. To better this style natural parenting can be introduced as well. Though parents of this style want their children to make their own choices they should set a good example of the right choices in their daily lives. Children do need guidance and support. As your child makes their own decisions talk to them about why they chose that decision and express your differences if they exist. First and foremost express to your child that you love them regardless of their choices. Following these steps will ensure the best relationship between you and your child.
The last style of parenting is a balance between the first two, authoritative parents help their children to make the best choices but to also learn for themselves. Parents provide clear and reasonable expectations for their children to meet. They then allow their children to make their own choices in meeting that expectation. These parents are there to support their child but not hold their hand their entire life. This type of parenting is often considered the most natural parenting style. They often present their children with the natural punishments for their wrong doings. For example if your child leaves their toys out state that they could be tripped and hurt some one. Parents of this style often have no difficulty expressing their love and support for their child.
